Modi raised the issue during his one-day visit to the border areas on Saturday. He met the men of the Border Security Force (BSF), who apprised him of various problems. Modi also demanded that the Centre provide adequate telecommunication facilities to the men, and lay a pucca approach road up to border outpost-960.
An official statement issued here this evening said that Modi wanted the Centre to review its decision to lay an airstrip at Badmer in neighbouring Rajasthan.
Modi also assured the ,rm that the state government will play a pro-active role to provide them the basic facilities.
He said the Rs 6-crore project to supply Narmada water through a pipeline to the border areas will be complete by March this year. He further assured them that the government will request the State Bank of India to install an ATM at Suigam– the remotest village in the border area.
