Ahmedabad Chief Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by senior officials and industry representatives, left for a three-day special visit to Russia on Sunday to participate in the World Energy Week beginning Monday.

Accompanying Modi are Chief Secretary D Rajagopalan, Principal Secretary, Energy and Petrochemicals S Jagdeesan, and D J Pandian, Managing Director, GSPC. Besides officials, over 10 representatives from various industrial groups have joined the delegation.

During the three-day visit, Modi and his delegation will meet representatives of several companies engaged in the energy sector.

“During the meeting with company officials, the CM will explore opportunities in oil, gas and clean energy sectors and how Gujarat can tie up with foreign companies,” said a senior state government official on Sunday.

He said the state-owned Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) was likely to sign Memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with several companies for exploration and production of hydrocarbon products in India and abroad.
