The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has said that all 111 youths trained for ‘Advani@Campus’ presentation have no political affiliation. But it turns out that most of them are registered members of Namo League, a social networking web portal named after Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

The youths selected for the presentation are reportedly doctors, management experts and IT engineers.

The Namo League (www.namoleague.com) is the brainchild of 24-year-old Maulik Bhagat, who graduated as an IT engineer from the Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information

and Communication Technology (DA-IICT), Gandhinagar, in 2006.

Bhagat told Newsline: “The idea to create Narendra Modi’s league came to me when I started the Namo Orkut community in 2006. Though, it is just five months old, around 700 young professionals in Gujarat and outside have registered with it.”

When asked about the portal’s affiliation with the BJP, Bhagat said the members support Modi’s ideology, but don’t hold any position in the state party organisation.

Incidentally, Bhagat is the son of Gujarat State BJP Election Cell Convener Parindu Bhagat.

He said: “We have 500 professionals from medicine, management to IT for our contribution to Advani@Campus. Any youth who supports Modi’s ideology can register with the social networking portal. Most of these members are in the age group of 30 to 45.”

Bhagat was also present at the BJYM’s one-day training session on the presentation.

He said the young members of the portal will visit different universities to give PowerPoint presentation about the NDA’s achievements and call for supporting L K Advani, the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, in the polls.

Meanwhile, Jigar Inamdar, the BJYM Gujarat general secretary, said: “The 10- minute interactive presentation will be launched next week at all universities across Gujarat. Training was imparted to 111 youth members of Namo League on March 10.”
