Mohali Mohali is all set to have its own super-specialty hospital with the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) inviting the expression of interest (EOI) for Greenfield Hospital, proposed to come up on a 3.15-acre plot of land adjoining the District civil hospital in Phase VI.

PIDB has invited the EOI till February 11 from any national or international individual, firm, company, non-profit organisation or a combination of them in the form of consortium or joint ventures.

To be built in the public-private partnership (PPP) mode, the multi-specialty, cancer super specialty and trauma centre project would come up on the Design Build Operate and Transfer (DBOT) basis.

The minimum capacity of the upcoming Greenfield super specialty hospital would be 200 beds, of which at least 50 beds each would be reserved for cancer and trauma centre super specialty healthcare services.

The PIDB which has taken up the project, along with the Punjab Health department has invited private sector participation in the design, engineering, finance, construction, operation and management of the Greenfield Hospital.

Punjab Health department would provide the identified land on a long-term lease of 50 years for the development of the hospital, for which IL&FS Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (IIDC) is the project development advisor.

The project offers an opportunity for the healthcare sector to provide a landmark destination for national and international health tourism in Punjab. Besides Mohali, a similar facility is also expected to come up in Bathinda on a 4.8-acre plot of land adjoining the District civil hospital there.
