Panchkula, February 4 While moneys are causing havoc near Nada Sahib in Panchkula, the forest department officials have done little to curb the menace and drawn attention to people offering food to the animal thus making the area prone to accidents.

“I almost had an accident while passing through here last time when a monkey came into my way. However, this is a regular phenomenon here, almost every commuter suffers the same problem. The worst part is the fact that people offer food to the monkeys here, attracting them from all over the sides and becoming a cause of accidents,” said Sukhwinder Singh Dillon, a resident of Daffarpur village in Mohali, also a daily commuter to the area.

Surjit Singh, another daily visitor to the area opines that the forest department should take strict action against those who offer food to monkeys.

The officials of the forest department had, on their part, put various signboards instructing people not to offer food to monkeys but the problem continues unabated. A team will be send to the area to take care of the situation and fine people offering food to monkeys, officials added.
