Pune, February 29 Citizens expect more disposable income and various people from the city coming from different backgrounds react to the budget.

Most Puneites feel that the raise in the income tax slab is definitely useful for the working class, salaried class and small income category.

“It will positively impact the lower income group and leave more disposable income in the hands of individuals,” says Debashis Chatterjee, SVP and Head of Pune Operations, Cognizant.

The IT slab limit for women has been raised to Rs 1, 80, 000, which is welcomed by the working women in the city, as they can look forward to more disposable income. “I am really happy about the limit been raised to Rs 1, 80,000. It will encourage more and more women to work,” says Sharvari Dighe at Satyam Computers.

“The increase gives me more freedom to invest and plan my expenses accordingly,” says Sharmila Kothurkar, Senior Client Servicing Executive, Indo Global Mass Media Pvt. Ltd. Another point of view is that this year’s budget has tried to make economic growth more inclusive - with people from all socio-economic classes and various walk of life benefiting.

“Prior to the budget, the Finance Minister had claimed that the Indian economy is now firmly on a high growth path (8.5 to 9 per cent). The problem is that not everyone is benefiting from this growth.
