Ahmedabad, February 13 The Animal Husbandry Department of Gujarat, and the Israel-based Elbit Medical Imaging Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday for investing 100 million dollars for setting up state-of-the-art dairy farms in Mehsana and Banakantha districts of North Gujarat.

In the first phase, an ultramodern farm will be set up in 43 hectares of land at the Buffalo-Bull Mother Farm located at Ambasan village, in Mehsana District, for which 4,000 milch cows from Israel will be imported.

In the second phase, 6,000 cows of the same variety will be brought to Mota-Jampura village in Kankrej taluka of Banaskantha district. The dairy farm here will be set up in 150 hectares of land.

The projects are expected to create additional employment opportunities for the cattle breeders of the region and give a boost to the local economy.
