Even as talks of moving the dates of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) to avoid clashes with the Delhi Fashion Week were doing the rounds, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) has decided to go ahead with it as per the appointed schedule between March 20-24. But what has changed though is the venue. After the Grand Hotel, Vasant Kunj and the more plebeian Pragati Maidan, the WIFW bandwagon now moves to the Intercontinental Eros at Nehru Place. “There were a lot of things that contributed to the decision. It’s convenient for buyers and designers to be lodged at the same venue as the shows and they don’t have to spent money on commutes. Also, choreographers and models will have access to better facilities,” says Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI. While the shows will happen by the poolside, FDCI is also ensuring that the security is state-of-the-art and the entire hotel gets live telecasts of all the shows. “That way nobody gets to complain about missing shows,” says Sethi.
