The pact allows TTA members to use the table tennis hall at the Pavilion, in lieu of which the association will look after the maintenance of the hall, which is as old as 50 years.

Prof Sharad Bansal, MSU Students Union president, said: “The MoU aims to give proper training to the budding table tennis players from the university. Besides, it will give students the opportunity to get the training from national level players, who are members of the TTA.” Kalpesh Thakkar, secretary, TTA, Vadodara, said the agreement has been signed for a year, and will be implemented from January 26.

“The TTA will look after the maintenance of the hall. Already four new tables have been installed. It needs further carpeting,” Thakkar said, adding that TTA members are allowed to play for few hours in the morning and in the evening.

Thakkar further said: "The city has the potential to produce national-level players, but it lacks good amenities. We also hope that the funds issued under MP Local Area Development fund by Vadodara MLA Jaya Thakker will be sanctioned soon. Using Rs 25 lakh from the MPLAD funds, TTA plans to construct a new hall at the Pavilion."
