He maintained the SP has always fought against communal forces and stands by its ideal of strengthening secular forces.
He also urged the leaders, rank and file of the party to do away with their differences and devote their time and energy to win at least 60 seats in the Lok Sabha polls.
Yadav said this while addressing a meeting of party state executives, MLAs, MPs and district presidents on Sunday. This was the first such meeting organised after Yadav announced the political tie-up with the former BJP leader Kalyan Singh.
Without naming anyone, the SP chief said a few disgruntled and frustrated people, who have been rejected by the people, were making noise over the tie-up and Kalyan Singh’s son Rajveer joining the party. He also gave a terse message to SP leaders saying every body was free to choose his/her course of action but the party will not bend over backwards to keep them in good humour.
Yadav reiterated that Kalyan Singh deserting the BJP will strengthen secular forces in the state and finally prevent L K Advani from becoming the prime minister.
Training his guns at Chief Minister Mayawati, he said: “This government will go down in history as the one which worked with the sole agenda of stealing from the treasury and extorting the common people. The CM had herself claimed the collections during her birthday this year had doubled as compared to last year.”
