Mumbai FC colts top the table

Mumbai A Manual D’souza brace enabled Mumbai FC’s u-19 team outplay Income Tax 2-0 in the Super Division of the Mahindra MFL football tournament played at St. Xaviers ground Parel on Saturday. In an earlier match of the Division III-C, Rhema Foundation were held by WNS to a goalless draw.

With Saturday’s win Mumbai FC u-19 tops the table with seven wins and one loss but with a better goal difference than Mahindra United u-19, who has seven wins from seven matches. Income Tax faced their sixth loss with one win and one draw.

Income Tax were dominated by Mumbai F C throughout the match, though their captain Neil D’costa created some moves from the middle and their striker Jordan Creado did not found much support from his colleagues to keep the score board moving. Manual, who is currently doing a course in Helicopter Landing Operations scored the goals, one in each half.

Ritesh Perembra and John Coutinho missed easy chances in the first half, in the 17thminute Manual took a flag kick from the left flank the ball sailed over goalkeeper Rohil Chauhan’s head in the far corner of the net. Income Tax had a chance to equalize in the 25thminute but Mandeep Basara’s weak shot was well collected by the goalkeeper.

In the second half Jordan Creado created moves for Income Tax but his colleagues failed to coordinate with him. Sam Cruz and Sahil Prabhakar both hit wide.
