The tour, which began on the Republic Day from the Gateway of India, is a statement against evils like terrorism and corruption, said Lall. In the city during his trip, he said: “Before the Mumbai attacks, I didn’t care about the way the country was run and was least concerned about people who lay down their lives for us everyday.”
But 26/11 shook this businessman like many other Mumbaikars. “Terror came to my doorstep. My mother was boarding a train at the Chatrapathi Shivaji Terminus when the blast occurred. It was a close shave but I couldn’t sleep for days,” said Lall.
He expressed hope to touch lives of youths through his endeavour. “I want to motivate them to be proactive. We need to cleanse our political system,” said Lall.
He has already travelled over 6,000 km before reaching Kolkata and hopes to cover another 9,000 km before ending his journey in Mumbai. “I have met quite a few naval officials in south India and now look forward to meeting army personnel in the North-East and Kargil,” he said.
Lall has also received ample support from various quarters. “The Taj group of hotels has sponsored my trip and Hyundai has helped in the maintenance of my car during the journey,” he said.
