Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary Gopinath Munde has rubbished the rumours about rift between BJP- Shiv Sena alliance. He also denied the possibility of any support from the Shiv Sena to NCP chief Sharad Pawar as Prime Ministerial candidate.
According to PTI, ridiculing Pawar’s chances of becoming the prime minister, Munde said he had been hearing it since his childhood but it never happened. Munde was talking to the reporters on the sidelines of a programme held in Chakan, about 60 km from here, on Thursday.
“The projection of Pawar as the PM by the NCP is a mirage,” said Munde. He said that there is no bitterness or differences between the Sena and BJP, which are two decades old. Munde, however, said that he agrees with Pawar’s stand on the issue of giving reservation to Maratha community. “From the beginning, I always said that the Maratha community should be given independent quota and not be included in the OBC category. I am not against giving them reservation in jobs and education," he said. Two days ago, Pawar also voiced similar view point.
Meanwhile, Munde held a meeting of city party workers last night to discuss Pune’s Lok Sabha candidate. According to a party worker, Munde discussed various issues in the constituency and gave motivational speech to the party workers. “He appealed the party workers to gear up for the elections,” he said.
