While development plans have been prepared for two villages, including Dadumajra and Maloya, the authorities believe there is not much scope for making changes in the existing infrastructure.

The growth of structures in villages and colonies has not been regulated by certain bylaws which are applicable only in the city. The construction of such structures has been carried out in a haphazard manner.

As some of the villages are being handed over to the Municipal Corporation by the Administration, plans are being designed for their development.

The proposals include: improving roads, upgrading sewerage system and providing better infrastructure.

An official of the Municipal Corporation said there are certain restrictions in the implementation of the plans. For example, the roads cannot be widened due to encroachments on the roadside.

The authorities have their focus set on vacant spaces to develop new infrastructure. This includes making new community centres, green belts and parks.

While the community centres have been in demand for some time now, the green belts and parks are for the beautification of the area.

The construction of parking lots and other facilities for commercial activity is also being planned.

The Mayor has proposed that focus should also be laid on areas that have been newly regularised or constructed as there would be scope for development.
