New Delhi Struggling to locate her husband at AIIMS, Jabina, the wife of alleged gangleader Satya Prakash (alias Sattu) who was shot at by the police in the encounter, claimed on Monday that he is not a criminal.

She said Satya Prakash left their house, in Seemapuri (East Delhi), earlier in the day with an acquaintance “for some emergency” work. She claimed Prakash drove a car — an Indica — for a living.

“I don’t know exactly what happened; the police are not letting us know anything despite contacting them several times,” Jabina told Newsline.

Jabina said a family acquaintance called Bittoo, a Maujpur resident, arrived at their house this morning and asked Satya Prakash to come with him. “I thought there was some emergency — my husband went along with him,” Jabina said. But around 4 pm I came to know from TV news that my husband is involved in a gunbattle at Green Park.

“I still can’t believe it.”

Prakash, she claimed, had never been involved in any criminal activity earlier.
