Nagaland win championship trophy

Pune, February 24 The Nagaland team won the over all championship trophy in the sports meet jointly organised by My Home India, a non-governmental organisation and North East Students Association of Pune (NESAP). The two-day sports meet, that started on February 21, was held on the Fergusson College ground.

Over 225 students from Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya and different tribes of north-east India participated in football, volley ball, basket ball, table tennis and badminton during the sports meet.

Chess Grandmaster Abhijit Kunte, who was chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony, encouraged My Home India and NESAP for organising the sports meet. “It is good that Pune is hosting a sports meet for the students of north east India. Such events are needed to consolidate national integration,” he said.

Captain of the Nagaland team, Mele Pucho, received the overall championship trophy from Kunte. Executive member of My Home India, Poonam Mehta was also present on the occasion.
