Chandigarh, January 4 The final voters’ list, which will be out on January 10, will not have the names of around 60,000 city residents.

Of the total 1.2 lakh names deleted from the list, the Election department has included only 60,000 new names.

“Only once the final list comes out will we be able to know how many of the 1.2 lakh names deleted have been included in the list,” said officials of the Election Department.

The names of 1.2 lakh voters were deleted from the list, mostly due to change of address.

After protests by those who were left out, the administration gave them time to fill out the forms to include their names in the list.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, I S Sandhu, said the department has included more than 60,000 new voters in the list this time.

Sandhu said those who have been left out can apply for inclusion of their names in the supplementary list.

Meanwhile, this is the first time that the list will have photos of voters along with their names and addresses. Sandhu said photo identity cards will be issued shortly.
