Amritsar, February 13 Takht Patna Sahib Jathedar Giani Iqbal Singh reiterated his stand on the issue of changes required in the Nanakshahi calendar.

Here to participate in a religious function organised by Nishkam Sewa Society, Iqbal Singh said he had spoken to Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti in detail and they would hold a meeting to sort out all the differences.

“Changes will be made, that is certain. The Sikh high priests will meet after Jathedar Vedanti arrives home as he is away to France on a religious tour,” said Iqbal Singh, adding that differences amongst the Sikh clergy would be resolved before the Guruta Diwas celebrations.

When asked about his hukamnama on the issue, he said it remains in force and earlier too edicts were issued from Takht Patna Sahib. “Anybody challenging our edict is challenging Guru Gobind Singh’s philosophy,” he said.

Interestingly, Jathedar Iqbal Singh gave clean chit to Daljit Singh Bedi, the suspended additional secretary and media in-charge of SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar. “The photo of the woman with him, published in the newspaper, is that of his wife. We should not interfere in anyone’s personal life,” he said, adding that Bedi should be reinstated at the earliest.
