P H Parmar, on whose petition the court had issued notices to the CID (crime) enquiring about the progress of the investigation, however, argued that the investigating agency must conduct narco test on Asaram Bapu, as he, according to him, was the main culprit.
Parmar submitted that the two men—Yogesh Bhati and Pankaj Saxena—will not be able to throw much light on the episode. He said narco test on Asaram Bapu could bring out the truth behind the death of the boys.
Meanwhile, the bench also allowed the parents of the deceased boys, Praful Vaghela and Shantilal Vaghela, to join the case as a party and submit an affidavit by February 27, the date fixed for the next hearing.
The CID (Crime) has been probing the death of the two boys.
The boys—Abhishek and Hitesh, both cousins and studying in the primary section of the gurukul—had gone missing after dinner on July3 under mysterious circumstances.
Their mutilated bodies were recovered from the Sabarmati riverbed on July 5, two days later.
One Sunil Banerjee had spotted the bodies about two kilometres away from the gurukul. Banerjee, who belongs to Orissa, had disappeared after the incident. Later, it was found that he had nothing to do with the deaths.
