Nath bags gold for UP in veterans athletics

Lucknow S Nath of Uttar Pradesh occupied the first place in the high jump event of the above 70 age category to fetch UP a gold in the 30th National Veterans' Athletics Championship which commenced at the KD Singh ‘Babu' Stadium here on Thursday. In the women's section, UP athlete Anita secured a gold in the long jump event. The tournament was inaugurated by Culture Minister (UP) Subhash Pandey.

The Results: Women’s section:-Shot Put (60+): 1st TN Sitamma (Kar), 2nd Satywih Houda (Haryana), 3rd Pratibha Khare (Maharashtra); Long jump (60+): 1st MA Shanthi (Kar), 2nd Khazani Devi (Har), 3rd Sharadha (Kar);Shot put (65+): 1st KL Prema (Kar), 2nd MN Nagratna (Kar), 3rd Bangaramma (Karnataka); Shot put (50+): 1st Shraddha (Maharashtra), 2nd Jaya Lakshmi (Karnataka), 3rd Ranbiro Devi (Har); Long jump: 1st Anita (UP), 2nd Caroline (Mah), 3rd Sheela Kapoor (UP);

Men’s Section: High jump (70+): 1st S Nath (UP), 2nd Babu Bhai B Sardar (Gujarat), 3rd Gurudeo (Chandigarh); High jump (60+): 1st RN Atarajappa (Karnataka), 2nd Bala Subramanyam (Tamil Nadu), 3rd NS Nagarajarao (Karnataka); High jump (75+): 1st Dev Kumar (Maharashtra), 2nd S Ramachandran (Tamil Nadu).
