Naveen’s efforts go in vain as Yorker Club beat Armaan Academy

Lucknow All-round efforts by Naveen Agnihotri (86 runs; 2 for 34) went in vain as his team— Armaan Academy had to face a 66-run defeat at the hands of Yorker Club in the semi-final match of the 1st Capricorn Drug India Cricket Tournament at Northern Railway Stadium here on Thursday.

Batting first after winning the toss, Yorker Club mustered 219 runs losing eight wickets in the given 35 overs. Arpit Sachdeva (51), Sandeep Anand (35) and Omprakash (33 not out) were the main run-getters. Praveen Kumar took three wickets while Rahul Saxena and Naveen Agnihotri clinched two wickets each.

In reply, Armaan Academy which was short of on player could score 153 runs. Besides Naveen Agnihotri (86) few others could stay at the crease for long. Naveen’s 86 came off 103 balls which featured 11 fours and a six. Nirmal Upadhyay took three wickets while Omprakash claimed two wickets. Arpit Sachdeva claimed apiece.

Brief Scores: Yorker Club: 219 for eight in 35 overs ( Arpit Sachdeva 51, Sandeep Anand 35, Omprakash 33 not out, Nitin Pandey 19, Abhishek Mishra 16, Atul Singh 13; Rahul Saxena 2 for 29, Praveen Kumar 3 for 40, Naveen Agnihotri 2 for 34);

Armaan Academy: 153 for nine in 30.4 overs ( Naveen Agnihotri 86, Nikhil Srivastav 23; Nirmal Upadhyay 3 for 36, Omprakash Kashyap 2 for 30, Arpit Sachdeva 1 for 19).
