Mumbai Follwing complaints by some fishermen about some unidentified boats off Mumbai, Navy and Coast Guard vessels searched the waters off the city on Sunday evening.

The ship movement was spotted by fishermen early on Sunday afternoon off the Thane creek and they informed the police, who in turn contacted the Navy, said sources.

“We received reports this afternoon that some unidentified boats were spotted around 15 to 20 nautical miles off south-west Mumbai. Navy and Coast Guard vessels are searching the area,” a Defence spokesperson told PTI.

While there were reports that the suspicious ship movement may have been an Army sailing expedition ship headed towards Gujarat, the Navy and Coast Guard vessels involved in the search operation continued their surveillance through the evening.
