Navy officer assaults colleague’s wife

Mumbai The Cuffe Parade police on Sunday morning arrested a naval officer on charges of assaulting the wife of another naval officer. The accused RA Chandran, who is a naval radio officer, allegedly broke into the house of Dharampal Rawat, a seaman, and assaulted Rawat’s wife with a knife. According to a police official from Cuffe Parade police station Chandran and Rawat’s wife were acquainted. Their families used to visit one another frequently. “According to Rawat’s statement, on Friday, Chandran had arrived at Rawat’s residence in old Navy Nagar and wanted to speak to his wife. However Rawat turned him away and the next day Chandran climbed on a scaffold and entered Rawat’s flat where he assaulted his wife,” said the official. The police arrested Chandran on Sunday morning and booked him for attempt to murder and trespass.
