“We have made an elaborate plan which includes infrastructure building to improving the living condition of tribals. Today we sent the scheme to the Centre,” said a senior official of the department.The Commission has asked the state government to see whether Central schemes like NREGS, Indira Awas Yojna and Pradhanmantri Gram Sarak Yojna and others are being implemented properly in these areas.

The state government too — to mark the completion of the one year of anti-Maoist joint operation — announced a comprehensive package for the development of these areas. The package included distribution of rice at Rs 2 a kilo among all residents of Lalgarh, setting up of new schools, hostels, vocational training centres, distribution of bicycles among students, to name a few.
Governor MK Narayanan, meanwhile, visited Burdwan and the Maoist-affected Bankura district on Thursday and had meetings with police and civil administration officials. In the afternoon, he went to Bankura town and had a meeting with senior administration and police officials there.
Ex-panchayat member killed in Goaltore
Suspected Maoists on Thursday killed a primary school teacher in Goaltore in West Midnapore. According to a senior officer, Ranjit Dey, a resident of Goaltore was abducted by a group of the Maoists on Wednesday from his residence. His body was spotted at Bhalukbasa forest. Dey was an active member of the CPM and an ex-Panchayat member. Some Maoists posters were found near the body which stated that Dey has been sentenced to death for working as a police informer. ENS
