Pune, February 25 Diamond Jubilee Celebrations at the National Defence Academy kickstarted on Monday with a group of eight officers and 10 Cadets of the Academy commencing on a Desert Safari Expedition as part of the celebratory events.

Commandant NDA, Air Marshal TS Randhawa, VM flagged off the team led by Gp Capt NB Sathe, Dir Trg, NDA who would be undertaking the expedition on a 04 x Maruti Gypsy and 02 x Sumo.

The expedition is primarily a motorised version of a typical desert safari. It is intended to cover the Thar desert in a convoy of six vehicles with the crew of NDA’s cadets and officers. The idea is to skip the motorised/direct routing thereby testing one’s endurance and skill in handling the various conditions associated with the terrain, weather and vehicles in question.
