Surat Chief Minister Narendra Modi garlanded the newly built statue of Subhash Chandra Bose on the latter’s 112th birth anniversary at Haripura village in Bardoli taluka of Friday.

Modi also visited the village where Bose had stayed for a few days in 1938 . Under the leadership of Bose, the 51st national-level meeting of the Congress party was held in the village, which was attended by Mahatma Gandhi and other top leaders of the country.

The CM came to the place on a bullock cart accompanied by 51 more carts. On the occasion, Modi also inaugurated the e-gram project in the village, which aims to connect all the gram panchayats with the help of Internet.

Explaining the importance of e-gram project to the audience, Modi said it would enable the village talati to be in live contact with other talatis across the state. The talatis can even take part in video conferences among themselves and with other higher officials.

“Through this e-gram project, I can talk with talatis of different villages in the state if needed,” said Modi.

He said the project will bring revolution in rural areas of the state.
