During his heydays on the cricket field, Mohinder Amarnath could rattle opposition with his elegant footwork and high-flying shots. As a 58-year-old cricket commentator, he can still do the same — only on a different pitch. The former all-rounder is among the participants for season three of Sony TV’s reality show, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. As is tradition on the show, Amarnath joins the list of sports personalities, Ajay Jadeja and Mir Ranjan Negi, who participated the two previous episodes.

“I dance at parties, like everybody else. But now, I have to learn my steps from a scratch to suit the music. It involves a lot of focus and hard work and my cricket experience is coming in handy,” says Amarnath. So, for the past three weeks, he has been putting in two-three hours of rehearsal daily. Matching steps with Amarnath will be choreographer Lillian Mendez. “I have picked up the basics of salsa, jive and rock-n-roll,” he says. “Salsa is my favorite.”
