Ludhiana Public grievances will be the top priority of the new commissioner Vikas Garg. After taking the charge, he categorically told all the employees to work with utmost honesty and integrity. Garg’s predecessor Sumer Singh Gurjar’s last year was marred by controversies. Skirting the issue, he said, “It is a public dealing post where the aim is to satisfy the masses. Employees should be honest with them.”

This 1998-batch IAS officer added that ongoing development projects will also be taken into consideration. These also include various schemes for SCs, STs, new facilities in the Mini Secretariat, water and sewer schemes in the rural areas and much more. Garg said, “Since I am new to the city, I have yet to get details about the projects and the city. So I can’t say much at this stage.”

After taking the charge this morning, Garg held meetings with various departments of the administration. He asked the officials to speed up the work on all welfare schemes.
