New Hope for medical research, 278 pledge their bodies

Ludhiana What started as a pledge taken by N S Nanda to donate his body for medical research and use of vital body parts for organ transplants to help the needy, has been taken a step further by his NGO, New Hope, with a record 278 persons pledging to donate their bodies. The NGO has been spreading awareness among city residents to pledge their bodies for the cause of medical research.

As many as 12 more prominent city residents including three women, joined hands with the NGO on Tuesday and pledged to donate their bodies to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.

N S Nanda, who is the president of New Hope, said that the NGO was planning to celebrate Father’s Day on March 22 at Punjabi Bhavan. He said all members of the NGO who have pledged to donate their bodies after death will be honoured by Health Minister Lakshmi Kanta Chawla, who has been invited as the chief guest on the occasion.

He added that the NGO would also honour one devoted son who has been looking after his parents sincerely and a dedicated father who has selflessly been looking after his family.
