New IGI domestic terminal to be inaugurated today

New Delhi The upcoming departure terminal 1D of the IGI Airport will be inaugurated on Thursday, though it will be opened for passengers only by March-end, officials said on Wednesday. Set up at an investment of Rs 500 crore, the new terminal will be able to handle all outbound domestic passengers.

At present, passengers of Air India (domestic) and Kingfisher Airlines depart from terminal 1A; passengers of other airlines, including low-cost carriers, board from terminal 1B. Once the new terminal is functional, all airlines will have to operate from terminal 1D at least for a year till the proposed integrated terminal (T3) comes up. ar.
