The state government officials met members of the Planning Commission today and mulled sector-wise allocation. Power, irrigation, roads, transport and the welfare sector is expected to be given additional allocation. A clear picture will, however, emerge tomorrow at the end of final deliberations, said sources.
The plan size for 2009-10 is likely to go beyond Rs 7,500 crore, which does not include the Additional Central Assistance (ACA) amount, an official told Newsline, this evening.
Last year, the annual plan size was Rs 6,210 crore, which included Rs 200 as ACA. The allocation for industrial development may be further brought down. A senior official said, “Department-wise meetings were held with Planning Board members. The working groups also met. This will be the second year in a row in which the annual plan size has been increased.” Sources said a 27 per cent jump in allocation was expected in the power sector and 25 per cent in the social sector.
