NGO announces aid to kin of slain fishermen onboard ill-fated Kuber

Navsari An NGO has announced a financial aid of Rs 1.11 lakh to the families of the three fishermen, who are believed to have been killed onboard the Kuber, a Porbandar-based trawler used by terrorists to reach Mumbai on November 26.

The aid was announced by Seva, an NGO, for the families of Balwant Tandel, Mukesh Rathod and Natu Rathod, who were onboard the trawler, which was allegedly hijacked by terrorists. The three fishermen belonged to Macchiborsivad village of Navsari district.

The terrorists reportedly killed the fishermen and threw their bodies in the sea. The captain of Kuber, Amarsinh Solanki, had been captured by the terrorists to guide them to Mumbai. Solanki’s body was later found on the boat, which was abandoned.

President of Seva, Kanubhai Sukhadia, said they will also provide ration to the affected families every month till the children of the three slain fishermen reach adulthood. He rued the fact that the Central government has not provided any financial assistance to the families of the slain fishermen yet.

From January 26, know your HC case status on SMS

AHMEDABAD: COME January 26 and you will be able to access the status of your case in the Gujarat High Court through Short Message Service (SMS). Chief Justice K S Radhakrishnan will launch the service on Monday.

Registrar General Pradeep Bhatt told Newsline that the facility would enable litigants, advocates or anybody else to know the status of their cases like the next hearing date or adjournment, without personally coming to the court or logging on to the Internet. However, in order to use the service, the person must know the case category code and case number along with the year of filing.

This will give him/her access to the case status by sending an SMS in a prescribed format to 56767989. Within seconds of sending the SMS, the sender will receive a reply containing information about the status.

For example, to know the case status of a Civil Application No. 151 of year 2009, a persons will have to send the SMS: ghcs SCA 151 2009 to 56767989. The case category codes are available on the High Court’s website www.gujarathighcourt.nic.in
