Surat A company of SRP battalion has arrived in the city. They will be posted at Surat’s entry and exit points

Nine new check posts have been set up at the entry and exit points in Surat as part of the security measures, on the orders of the Surat police commissioner.

Within Gujarat, Surat and Ahmedabad have been the target of terrorist attacks. While the terrorists were successful in Ahmedabad, they failed in their nefarious designs in Surat as none of the 29 live bombs found there, exploded.

Given the fact that Surat is considered the economic capital of the state, Commissioner RMS Brar has now given the order for setting up extra checks posts in the city. Even a company of SRP battalion has arrived in Surat and they will be posted at the entry and exit points in the city along with the local police personnel. Brar said six personnel will be posted at each check post to conduct round the clock check on vehicles.

“The police staff will work in two shifts. This has been done to keep a strict vigil on the people entering the city. The responsibility of safety and security of the people of Surat is on us and we don’t want to take any chance. We have also requested the people of Surat to provide us information on any suspicious object or person in their area,” Brar added.

Besides, security has also been stepped up at the Nanpura Bahumali building in Surat which consists of a Police Control Room, the district collectorate and other government offices.
