New Delhi The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice to former CBI director Vijay Shankar and seven police officials on a petition seeking initiation of contempt of court proceedings against them for allegedly interfering with administration of justice in the Nithari killings case.

The notices were issued by a Bench headed by Justice Tarun Chatterjee while going through the petition filed by the widow of a key witness.

Sarkar’s widow Vandana has alleged in her petition that officials from CBI, UP and West Bengal police had conspired to prevent her and her advocate B P Singh Dhakray from pursuing a petition at SC seeking a proper probe into the mysterious circumstances of her husband’s death in West Bengal.
