The members, who wanted to take up the issue of the proposed PSEB scheme regarding advance credit deposit (ACD) with the CM, were in for a surprise when Badal told them that there was no such move planned at present.
Under the proposed ACD scheme, industrialists were supposed to deposit an advance bill of three months while domestic consumers were supposed to deposit an advance bill of two months with the board.
In addition to this, though the CM had announced that a hike in power tariff has been rolled back, consumers were still getting hiked power bills.
The Chief Minister announced that extra payment will be adjusted in new bills.
Protests had started after the Punjab State Electricity Board issued notices to industrialists informing them about the scheme last month.
“We are relieved to know that there is no such scheme at present,” said Charanjit Singh Vishvkarma and K K Seth, members of the association.
The Chief Minister told the delegation that a voluntary load disclosure scheme is open and consumers can benefit by declaring load.
