With the tough Pakistan series round the corner, the BCCI has spelt out for the Indian team a strict diet regimen, which will apply right throughout the five one-dayers and the sunsequent three-Test series.
No ice-cream, no peanuts, minimum fat content, not even deep fried stuff — that was how the BCCI’s menu for the Indian team for the Pakistan series reads, as The Indian Express got hold of a copy this evening, a day before the diet chart will be circulated among Dhoni’s boys when they assemble here for the two-day conditioning camp.
The Indian team will undergo preparatory sessions over the next two days, and then will set off for Guwahati for the opening one-dayer against Pakistan to be played on November 5.
The BCCI’s diet regimen for the series looks impressive and even punitive to some extent, but is welcome fodder for the Indian team’s critics, particularly in the wake of the players’ dismal showing on the fitness and fielding front in the recent 4-2 drubbing at the hands of the Australians at home.
The BCCI has also laid out a special diet for the players just for training days, which largely comprises fresh fruits and fruit juices.
However, it’s the ‘match days diet’ that looks impressive, with no-no’s on a spree of otherwise delicious items.
Meanwhile, the players will drop in at the city tomorrow morning, and will assemble at the Eden Gardens late in the afternoon for the first day of the two-day camp.Interestingly, the Board has asked the CAB to ensure that Eden’s floodlights will remain lit till 9pm or even later for the two days of the camp, so that the players get to train for a long duration. Here’s a gist of the diet chart chalked out by the BCCI:
Players should STRICTLY follow the following instructions:
NO visible fat/oil in food preparations.
MINIMUM fat/oil, ABSOLUTELY NO ghee/dalda.
All non-veg items MUST be HALAAL.
NO mushrooms in veg dishes.
NO red meat dishes.
NO ICE-CREAM.
NO Indian desserts.
NO PEANUTS.
