While the villagers of Batakwada village in Santrampur taluka of Panchmahals district still refuse to drink the milk, the dairy has not brought in any of the changes recommended by the district officials.
The Panchmahal Dairy was under the scanner of the district officials after 92 milk pouches were found contaminated and the students had fallen ill. The dairy was sent a notice for rectifying the method of delivering milk to the schools.
The district officials have also asked the dairy to deliver milk pouches with manufacturing dates clearly inscribed to ensure quality.
After inspecting the site, the district officials had asked the dairy officials to provide each school with plastic containers to preserve the milk.
“With the onset of summer, there are chances of milk getting spoilt very soon. Since it is the responsibility of the dairy authorities to keep a check on the quality of milk, they have been asked to provide the box,” said P V Vasaiya, Taluka Development Officer of Santrampur.
But even after a week, the four primary schools in Batakwada village are still refusing to consume the milk, as they alleged that the changes recommended were not put into action by the dairy officials.
“I had recently visited some of the schools and the changes are yet to be incorporated and we expect the dairy officials to make the changes within the next three days,” said R D Vankar, District Primary Education Officer, Santrampur.
