Chandigarh No proof has been found against Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s bodyguard, Ujagar Singh, in a snatching complaint filed by Supreme Court lawyer Vineet Dhanda, the police confirmed on Thursday. Dhanda had alleged on Wednesday that one of Salman’s bodyguards had taken away Rs 1 lakh from him and not returned it. He stated that he and Singh were in the lift of Hotel Taj when a packet containing the money fell. “The bodyguard picked it up and took it away. When I asked him to return the bag, he refused,” the lawyer had said.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Madhur Verma said: “We have seen every clipping of the CCTV cameras of the time the lawyer alleged the incident took place. We have found no proof against Singh or of any such incident.”

He added the police had also inquired the hotel staff and no one seemed to be aware of any such happening. “We are investigating the matter,” he said.

Sources said the lawyer, in fact, had earlier tried to barge into Salman’s room in Hotel Taj to meet him but his bodyguards had not allowed him. A police officer, on the condition of anonymity, said it might be a publicity stunt on the part of the lawyer. “We have confirmed from all sources that the lawyer had tried to barge into Salman’s room earlier. This indicates it is a publicity stunt,” he said.
