No reason left for students’ strike: varsity

Solan A spokesperson of Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, today termed the strike by the students’ union “unjustified”. “Despite acceptance of their demands, the decision of the Central Students Association (CSA) to go on strike is neither in the favour of students nor the university,” he said.

Meanwhile, the chain hunger strike by the students entered the fifth day. They assembled outside the administration block of the varsity and raised slogans. Their leaders said they would be go on indefinite strike if their demands are not met.

The spokesman of the varsity said the 19-point demand charter of the students was discussed on February 28 and March 3 and referred to officers and committees concerned for initiating action. “Now, there is no reason left for the strike,” he added.
