Besides, for the first time, the commission has decided to seek the services of Indian Forest Service officers.
Addressing mediapersons, Chief Election Officer (CEO) A K Bishnoi said earlier, the EC used to appoint one observer tasked with keeping a watch on the expenditure of candidates in a constituency. Now, any observer can check the expenditure.
Regarding the reports of parties organising meetings on caste lines, Bishnoi said he will direct officers to get the programmes videotaped.
“If they ask for votes in the name of caste or religion, the commission will certainly take action,” he added.
Bishnoi said the commission will also keep a close watch on criminals who operate from jails.
