Vadodara Eleven out of the 17 board members of Sabarkantha District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Ltd (SDCMPUL), popularly known as Sabar Dairy, have passed a no-confidence motion against the chairman of the union, Shyamal Patel.

The members have given a seven-day deadline for calling the board meeting and discussing the issue regarding the controversial recruitments.

Eleven members have submitted affidavits, individually and collectively, in the Gujarat High Court expressing their distrust in Patel as their chairman.

"Since majority of the members have expressed their distrust in the current chairman, he is no longer in a situation to head the board," said SDCMPUL vice-chairman, Jassu Patel.

Shyamal Patel has been the chairman of SDMPUL for the last two years. However, the board members are up against him for recruiting trainee and veterinary assistants.

When asked about the next move of the members on the issue, Jassu Patel said: "As the no confidence motion has been passed, Shyamal Patel cannot take any important decisions. He has no other option but to convene a meeting of the members."

Despite repeated attempts, Shyamal Patel was not available to comment on the issue.
