NOIDA, March 6 The Noida Authority has given its nod to the construction of underground parking lots, on the lines of Palika Bazaar, in six Sectors, officials said on Wednesday.

One park each has been identified in six most “problematic” Sectors — 1, 3, 12, 25A, 57 and 58 — under which the parking lots will be built. These Sectors are close to a cluster of corporate offices and industrial units.

Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Noida Authority Y K Bahl said: “The proposal was made several months ago, keeping in mind the growing traffic problems of the city.”

The construction of the parking lots will begin after April, Bahl said.

The parking lots will have double entry and exit points. Earnings from them will be used to maintain and develop the parks, under which the parking lots will come up, as green areas under the ‘Green Noida, Clean Noida’ slogan of the Authority, the officials said.

The Authority had earlier sent notices to MNCs in Sectors 6, 57 and 58 asking them to arrange parking lots for their employees, instead of allowing them to park on roads.

The first phase of the project will be to complete the parking lots in these sectors, the officials said.

The Authority is now looking at hiring consultants to advise them on the project.
