A rape case was registered as a case of obscenity in Noida. Officers of Noida Sector-20 police station have booked the accused in the rape of a minor under Section 294 of the Indian Penal Code as the ‘perpetrator of obscenity’.

According to the family of the victim, the girl was kidnapped on Tuesday from her residence by the accused Sunny, her neighbour. He then took her to Salarpur Village where he raped her. After a report was filed, the chowki-in-charge of Sector 19 nabbed the accused and detained him. The family of the victim alleged the police tried to cover up the incident. “The police asked for money from the family of the accused to release him. When his family could not pay up, the chowki-in-charge kept the accused under detention. After coming to know that the matter had reached the station house officers, he sent the accused to the police station,” the family alleged.

A senior police officer, however, admitted: “It is indeed a rape case.”
