NOIDA In the second encounter this year, the Noida Police has shot a ‘wanted’ criminal in an encounter around midnight near the Phase-II police station. He was killed in cross-firing. The man, identified as Naval Kishore Bihari, had no criminal case registered against him in Noida. There were 14 cases of loot, extortion and murder registered against him in Ghaziabad.

Bihari, a resident of Palamu, Jharkhand, lived in Ghaziabad’s Lal Quan area.

According to the Noida Police, Bihari had been making extortion calls to the deputy general managers of Moser Baer and Samsung with demands for several lakh rupees. Ashok Tripathi, SP (City), said Bihari’s phone was on electronic surveillance.

“After the deputy general managers of both companies were threatened by this criminal, we traced his calls and movements. Last night, when he was going to collect the extortion amount from one of the deputy managers, the police of Phase-II police station chased him,” said Tripathi.

There were two persons on motorcycle — Bihari and another person. When the police asked them to surrender, both speeded up. “One criminal managed to flee, while Bihari was shot in an encounter,” added Tripathi.
