Showbiz personalities on who should carry the statuette home

KARISHMA RANDEWA, TV actor
Best actor - Aamir Khan in Ghajini, because I love him so much
Best actress - Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Jodhaa Akbar. But I think Kangana Ranaut, even though she’s not been nominated in the lead role category, deserves applause for her performance in Fashion. She brings the film to life.

MARIA GORETTI, ex-VJ
Best Film - Rock On!!, because it’s one of those films which make you feel fantastic. When I left the hall after watching that movie, I felt so high on life.
Best Director - I’d say either Ashutosh Gowarikar for Jodhaa Akbar or Abhishek Kapoor for Rock On!! Ashutosh, because he brought the Mughal era to life — how they walk, talk, everything. And Abhishek Kapoor, because he did a truly commendable job with the story and character development.

MANASI JOSHI ROY, TV Actor and producer
Best Film - I have three choices — A Wednesday, because it has a fantastic story which is very well told. Rock On!! because it is an entertaining urban story and the cast and the crew have done a fabulous job. Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na because though it is a familiar boy-meets-girl story, its narration is so refreshing.
Best Actor - Naseeruddin Shah for A Wednesday, hands down. He’s a brilliant actor and his skill lies in making you believe in the character.

ACHALA SACHDEV, choreographer
Best film - A Wednesday, because when I look at it in totality, it is a wonderfully made film. Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na comes a close second
Best Actress - Even without going through the nominations Asin Thottukamal is my choice. She is also the best newcomer of the year.

RAJNEESH DUGGAL, model-actor
Best Actor - Abhishek Bachchan in Dostana. I think he was simply fantastic in the movie and was totally hilarious.
Best Actress - It has to be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Jodhaa Akbar. She was brilliant.

ALI ASGAR, TV actor
Best Director - Neeraj Pandey for A Wednesday, because it was one of the most hard-hitting films.
Best Film - A Wednesday. Although I also loved Ghajini.
