Nominations filed for bar association elections

Chandigarh, February 27 As many as 26 advocates contending for various posts of the District Bar Association (DBA) filed their nominations on the last day of nominations today.

The elections are slated to be held on March 14. Unlike last year, this year the number of executive members would be eight instead of 10. The association has also sought permission to prepare a video of the voting process to check any kind of bogus voting.

Giving details, a member of the association said, “N K Nanda and A S Gujral have filed nominations for the post of president, while Arvind Sandhu, Ranjan Lohan and Raman Kalia have put in their papers for the post of vice-president.

On the other hand, Harish Bansal, Raminder Pal Singh and Guarav Bhardwaj will be contesting for the post of secretary and for the post of joint secretary respectively, which is reserved for women advocates.

Preeti Nigam and Namita Kandhari have filed nominations. For the post of treasurer, Paramjit Singh Rana, Vipin Negi and Yogesh Jassal have filed nominations and 13 advocates will be contesting for the posts of eight executive members.”
