Ahmedabad The Health Department has served notices to the former Medical Superintendent of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, reportedly for goof-ups in three projects (e-filing, website and two-way conference).

According to sources, Dr Prabhakar did not invite tenders for the projects, but made the payments to the selected companies. The projects were approved during his stint as the superintendent. At present, he is serving as the Director of Paraplegia Hospital.

Principal Secretary (Health) Rita Teotia confirmed of the notices being sent to Dr Prabhakar for ‘administrative and disciplinary faltering’. She said he has been asked for an explanation, but would not comment until he has answered.

Dr. Prabhakar, however, declined having received any such notice. “I am unaware of any such notice. I do not even know about the issue,” he said.

Incidentally, the three projects have not been taken off even a year later. A hospital administrative official said on condition of anonymity: “The projects were handed over without inviting tenders for the same. None of them have even entered the starting phase even though payments were made almost immediately.”
