It will be carried out in Andheri East where a flood-like situation will be simulated but without water. “The various requirements from government sectors during heavy rains or floods and the synchronised working between these agencies will be monitored by experts from the NDMA,” said deputy municipal commissioner (disaster management) of the BMC, S.S Shinde.
The drill will involve five agencies of the state and over 20 of the BMC. These include the police, state and municipal health services, state and municipal fire and emergency services, controller of civil defence, home-guards, transport officials, railway officials, local NGOs, Port Trust representative, representatives from the Navy, Coast Guard and National Disaster Response Force. Their ratings will be compiled into a report to be presented to respective agencies to help them overcome their lapses.
