A meeting of the Tajpur Road dyeing units was held this afternoon and the members plan to meet the chief minister on Monday along with district BJP president O P Bhardwaj.
Ashok Makkar, president of Tajpur Road Dyeing Association, said, “The cost of CETP will not be less than Rs 15 crore on 5 acres of land and we are ready with Rs 6 crore. According to the Centre's scheme, we can get 50 per cent subsidy on the project and hence the project will cost Rs 7.5 crore. We will pay the money if the state government gives us the land near Jamalpur, the site is a being used a garbage dump.”
Bobby Jindal, general secretary, said “According to the instructions of the Punjab Pollution Control Board, we have to upgrade our ETPs and also have to install online metering systems which will show the quality of water. But this will cost around Rs 10 lakh per unit which we cannot spend within a month. Moreover, this will not serve the purpose much.”
It seems that the dyeing units are buying some more time because they know that the allotment of land is a lengthy process and hence they can get some more months to install CETP.
