Pune Maharashtra's junior tennis players Ronak Manuja and Arjun Kadhe have been chosen for the Suhana scholarships, which will be awarded by Pravin Masalewale.

The company had earlier initiated scholarships for talented chess players in the city since the last six months.

The first ever sponsorships for tennis players in the city was announced by the Managing director of Pravin Masalewale, Rajkumar Chordia, who is also vice president of MSLTA.

"The sponsorship will enable the young players monetarily and help them to focus on their game and make rapid strides into international tennis scene," Chordia said.

"We have been a tennis family who have been supporting various sportspersons over the year, though we have supported the sport of tennis for the last 23 years we will be sponsoring tennis players for the first time. Also, we would like to keep our focus restricted to players from the city who are excelling in sports," he added.

Both players selected for the sponsorship are ranked amongst the top four players in the country and number one in the state, both of them are knocking on the doors of international tennis at the junior level and our support will surely give them a boost to get there much faster," said Vishal and Anand Chordia, directors of Pravin Masalewale and both former national level tennis players.

The corporate sponsorship is part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility Programme and will provide enough backing for them to excel and aim higher, the contract will be valid for one year and will be increased based on their performances and need. Manuja and Kadhe are part of the 'MSLTA Vision 2010' programme, which is aimed at putting junior tennis players in Grand Slam events by 2010.
